Eastbourne Extreme - Saturday
19/07/2008 by tim.
Well it all started as a very much uphill struggle.
Firstly, the weather was very windy and quite wet till around 10am so the breakfast skate just didn’t happen!

Secondly, vandals had managed to pour sand on the basketball court arena, glass on the tennis courts and oil on the ramps at the skate park! It took me with some masterful sweeping with ESA Dave about an hour and a half to remove the glass. Dave had already been there hours sweeping sand before I arrived!

Once we’d dealt with all that, it was time for a few lessons and games, which was pretty much the order of the day from then on.

We managed a variety of skills, to a variety of people. Though almost everyone I taught (about 4 to 1) were already Sk8school customers and either knew we were teaching through the TXT event service or the newsletter bulletin!

So that all works then!

The rest of the skating side of the event kicked off properly by about 2p, with some half respectable crowds.

Max ran a splendid slalam competition and of course tonight is the highlight of the whole event…

The roller disco at the Redoubt fortress!

Roll on tomorrow!

Breakfast Skate at Eastbourne Extreme
14/07/2008 by tim.
The Sk8school/Sk8 M8’s Breakfast skate has been added to both days of the Eastbourne Extreme Skate Time table.
If you are planning to attend the breakfast skate on either day - I’d recommend sprinting the last few hundred meters as the Holywell Cafe will be inundated with orders and will take a while to serve everyone!
Skate Lessons at Eastbourne Extreme
14/07/2008 by tim.
Sk8school will be teaching Skating Lessons at Eastbourne Extreme this year and it will be both days, running full programs for beginners, intermediate and experts alike. We’ll be running coaching sessions and tasters for all our mastering courses, backwards, turning and stopping. So whatever skill is in need of improvement, we will have something for you.

Just remember, that for the Eastbourne Extreme Weekend only - its at the Basket Ball courts, not the Turning Circle.
Eastbourne Extreme Kids Club - Biggest yet?
14/07/2008 by tim.
Well Sk8school are Teaching at Eastbourne Extreme this year and that’s including Kids Club in the official time table!

As the Pictures Show its a pretty popular and well attended event in any case every week. Lets hope that the Saturday and Sunday Kids Clubs for the Eastbourne Extreme weekend are the biggest Kids Club Sk8school has ever run!
I Just hope everyone remembers its not at the Turning Circle that weekend! We’ll be in the Skate part of the event near the basket ball courts.
Tell all your friends - lets make this the biggest one ever.
Another Sk8 n Chips success!
11/07/2008 by tim.
A welcome break in the weather allowed us to run a sk8 n chips (at last!).
As usual we did the “length” and finished off on the beach with the fish n chips! Another successful night skate in Eastbourne then!

And we even managed to get back before the rain came again!
The next breakfast skate is 9am Saturday AND Sunday during the Eastbourne Extreme weekend.
9am from the basket ball courts rather than the turning circle.

The Eastbourne Skaters Sk8 M8’s night skate with a difference! Sk8 n Chips - or Quad and Chips as some will insist on calling it is a bi monthly (alternate week) night skate, with the sole purpose of relaxing with your Sk8 M8’s on the beach , eating some fish and chips after an appetite building skate!

Meet up at the Turning Circle at 7:45pm and have a little cash with you for your food and drink!

Check the Sk8 M8’s page for more Eastbourne Skate Events like this!

Sk8 M8’s Beach BBQ
11/06/2008 by tim.
A real case of sausage and roll!
Our first one of the year and a good number turned up, however there were about 4 times as many people watching and skating than actually eating (why eat before a BBQ?)
Anyway, a few pictures tell the story and show the wonderful surroundings. Alas poor Lee hurt his neck over the weekend at NewQuay so he wasn’t skating - but still seemed keen to instruct anyone who’d listen on how to cook the perfect sausage!

Many people struggled with the late notice (and we had to do it that way because of the weather and wind speed are a large factor!) However - the new and experimental Sk8 M8’s Event TXT notification should aid in that regard in the future!

And just to add a little fizz to the proceedings, we had to try out the Mentos and Coke experiment on the beach - there’s a video for it here! -> video0026.mp4
Latest Breakfast Skate Pictures
09/06/2008 by tim.
Probably the best one of the year on Saturday! We rolled, we had breakfast, we had ice cream.
The pictures tell the tale! If you’d like to join in, the breakfast skate start off from the Turning Circle at 9am every other Saturday - so the next one is June 21st. All you need is something near Stride 2 capability and half reasonable stopping skill!
20+ skaters and we picked up several on the way. Even though several of the regulars were missing, a good turn out and several welcome new faces.
Here’s the Turning Circle group, getting ready to go.

And we’re off!

You’re never to small for breakfast!

And now we’re well on our way, on another fantastic Eastbourne Skaters Sk8 M8’s Breakfast Skate

Our first proper stop is just before the pier (though we regroup before all the hills too!)

And as our two model 24 year old’s demonstrate, skating really does keep you looking young!

After breakfast Captain Chaos decides to have a cone break.

And all the showing off leads to more showing off (have you noticed it’s the same offenders every week?)

And the Challenges roll on, all on a full stomach!

And the alternative version…

Time for a photo, before any more head off!

The final stop, back where we started!

Looking good for the Sk8 n Chips on Thursday!
