Corporate Skate Events

The Eastbourne Skate School - Sk8school is often asked to provide services for skate events and corporate training days, team building exercises and unique office parties. Here’s a typical itinerary for a 4 hour team building event. We can tailor everything to your requirements and provide music and entertainment on any scale with our huge skate hire and DJ facilities.

Set up (30 minutes)

Set-up venue with hire skates and safety equipment, sound system and other miscellaneous sports equipment etc. approximately half an hour before clients arrive on site.

Introduction (15 minutes)

Brief safety talk to identify evacuation procedure, first aid, areas of special interest in the environment (EG. Where the toilets are, any particular hazards at the venue and any special venue rules – skating in corridors etc.).

Talk to include the skates and safety equipment and to identify any people in need of special considerations (partially sighted, injury history, asthma etc.).

Simple warm up for the group and Learning “Balance Points”

Split group between instructors, probably in order of candidates presumed capability. Note minimum instructor numbers for 60 people is 3, giving groups of 20 each.

Gear up (15 minutes)

Ensure all participants are correctly geared up to begin their coaching.

Equipment check for all 60 people.

Lessons (1 hour including a short break)

All candidates will learn correct basics, including terminology, basic positions and correct method of falling.

Basics include beginner movement (stride1) beginner stopping (heel brake) and beginner turns (A Frame turn).

Classes with a higher average experience will naturally learn more advanced moves as well.

Various demo’s will be given by the instructors. Everything from artistic dance moves to speed skating and slalom.

Its a Knockout! (1 hour including a short break)

Various games for teams and individuals, initially focusing on skills learnt in the lessons and gradually building up to more individual and artistic pursuits including artistic and freestyle skate dance and skate dancercise.

*Games such as obstacle races, assault courses, limbo dancing (on skates), pursuit racing, various games of tag etc.

*Dancercise – think line dancing meets aerobics on skates!

Roller Disco (1 hour)

A nice relaxing roller disco with occasional games and dancing for those with the energy.

Skates off/ Clear away (30 minutes)

Ride n Joy invites Eastbourne Skate School and the Sk8 M8s to its end of year special.

It was a cold day - but worth it…

Ride n Joy end of year special.

Pauline and Dave produced hot mulled wine and various snacks and refreshments in the last two weekends leading up to Christmas. There were even blankets to help fend off the cold.

We’ll be joining Ride n Joy once again in April when we start all the Eastbourne skate lessons at the Cage, right next to their hut.

See you there.

Sk8 M8s Climbing Trip - Saturday 28th

Don’t forget, we’re Rock Climbing this Saturday - convoy leaves Eastbourne at 10am!

Contact us for meeting point and trip schedule.

Eastbourne Skaters go rock climbing - as the weather is so bad…

Every couple of weeks Sk8school and the Sk8 M8s organise trips and events for our Eastbourne Skaters, as the weather has been so bad - and we’re still arranging the skating laser quest experience, so rock climbing was the next choice.

Once we’ve done that, there will be a racing experience at Trax Leisure, Ice Skating Trips and of course Southwick and Peacehaven.

Family Finance and Fun Day!

Sk8school opened the entertainment at the Family Finance day at Shinewater this weekend. The events purpose is to raise awareness of loan sharks and other threats to family finance. In amongst the programme of events, there were several fun demos and shows and Sk8school kicked them off.

The scheme made a donation to the Ben Lund fund for our efforts. Many thanks!
