Sk8 M8’s London Trip for Eastbourne Skaters

We set off from Eastbourne on Sunday morning - on the 9:55 train. We knew there would be no rail works scheduled because it was Airbourne weekend.

imag0302.jpg

Once we made our way to Hyde Park it was time to put the wheels on and stretch those Eastbourne skaters legs!

imag0300.jpg

imag0304.jpg

imag0308.jpg

imag0311.jpg

We headed off down Serpentine road, looking for a picnic site and it wasn’t long before we’d found one and Sue had managed to decorate herself with most of her tea!

imag0322.jpg

imag0324.jpg

imag0323.jpg

We met quite a few familiar faces on our travels and then headed to the start of the Stroll for 2pm.

imag0330.jpg

imag0343.jpg

The pace was quite comfortable for most of us and the surfaces were tolerable most of the time!

imag0339.jpg

imag0344.jpg

imag0346.jpg

imag0347.jpg

We certainly managed to see the sights!

imag0349.jpg

imag0350.jpg

Some of us decided to view the sights from every conceivable angle!

imag0351.jpg

Once back we all met up for another tour of Serpentine, a final top up of refreshments and then… back to Victoria for the trip home.

A fantastic day out and one we’ll repeat on the next Airbourne weekend.

Another Sk8school Skate Party - a birthday party with a difference.

Another Roller Skate Party for a lucky Birthday girl this afternoon! If you’d like something different for your little ones give us a call from the main website.

imag0296.jpg

The games are designed for all ages and abilities, so we can ensure your kids are worn out!

Eastbourne Skaters take on the Marina route - Sk8 M8’s Breakfast Skate!

Well we publicised we were going to do something different and the route managed to to live up to expectations.

imag0236.jpg

Fears that the Eastbourne Airbourne Show would make travel to the Turning Circle difficult proved unfounded and we managed to get there without any problems at all (leaving took a little longer than usual - but only a few minutes so not too bad at all). As you can see - we even managed to get some push chairs on the Breakfast Skate this time!

imag0238.jpg

video0092.mp4The route promised to show everyone some of the sights that Eastbourne Skaters don’t normally see or even know exist!

imag0241.jpg

imag0278.jpg

Like the fountains!

imag0254.jpg

imag0260.jpg

Various Scuptures

imag0246.jpg

And some seriously good surfaces!

imag0265.jpg

imag0272.jpg

imag0274.jpg

We even had time for some Yacht spotting!

The food was just fine and because it was a little closer than the usual route, we managed to get there quite fast, which was handy as the cafe filled up pretty quickly.

imag0243.jpg

imag0244.jpg

Naturally the “usual suspects”played up. Fogie managed to “get lost” - which is what happens if you lead, but don’t know where you are going! DOH! Of course if you listen to him, he was just hurrying along for a cup of coffee!

imag0251.jpg

imag0263.jpg

On the way back we made sure we took in more of the sights and ended up taking about as long as the usual route.

In the end we had a cup of tea at the Turning Circle Cafe and met up with Fiona and a few other skaters. As you can see Ice Cream was also on the menu!

imag0284.jpg

imag0286.jpg

Chalk up another Sk8 M8’s success - perhaps we’ll have to vary the routes for the Sk8 n Chips Eastbourne Skaters Night Skates for the Sk8 M8’s too!

Eastbourne Skaters Thursday Night Sk8 M8 Skate.

The Thursday night skate followed the usual procedure, meeting up for 7:45 at the Turning Circle

imag0218.jpg

Heading along the Prom, picking up more skaters as we did so.

imag0222.jpg

Strangely, although we’ve over a 100 people on the TXT service and the Sk8 M8’s have been running these regularly for years, we’re still only ever seeing small turn outs! Yet the news letter has 2500 people on it!?

imag0223.jpg

Very odd, especially as we pay for the newsletter posts, so we are very tidy about bounced emails (newsletter delivery).

imag0226.jpg

Anyway… we made it to Holywell and thats where some of us decided to “do the hill”

imag0227.jpg

Doing the Hill involves slogging up the steep side and then rolling the gentle slope all the way into Eastbourne.

imag0228.jpg

The climb is a killer, but the roll is worth it!

imag0230.jpg

After that business as usual, meet up at the Beach for Fish and Chips - Lovely!

imag0231.jpg

See you all for the Airbourne breakfast skate (in the opposite direction to normal!).

imag0232.jpg

Breakfast Skate rescued by the Dotto Train!

Well it started as a bit of a gamble with the weather!

imag0209.jpg

imag0210.jpg

And we made it with no problem to the Holy Well Cafe.

imag0211.jpg

imag0212.jpg

Then the weather closed in, and what started as “sea spray” and low cloud, soon became rain!

imag0213.jpg

imag0214.jpg

Half of us braved the weather and tried the prom.

imag0215.jpg

imag0216.jpg

The other half swallowed their pride and took the Dotto Train back!

imag0217.jpg

Lets hope the Airbourne weekend is better - and remember folks - its the Marina route for the Breakfast skate next time!  If you get the TXT event notification reminders - you’ll have no problem!

Happy Birthday Jessica! - Enjoy the Skate Party!

imag0163.jpg

Kids club is great, and some parents like to tailor it to their requirements and book a Skate Birthday Party!

imag0165.jpg

imag0170.jpg

Sk8school have been running Skate Parties for Heely’s Roller Skaters and Inline Skaters for Years in Eastbourne.

imag0173.jpg

imag0177.jpg

It combines the elements of Roller Disco, Kids Club and Lessons in one custom package - and of course we have all the Skate Hire too!

imag0192.jpg

If you’d like to have something different for your kids birthday or other occasion, why not book a skate party?

Sk8 M8’s roll over to Bexhill seafront

Well it was hot, it was Monday and a few of the Sk8 M8’s decided to do something different!

imag0144.jpg

imag0145.jpg

We met up in dribs and drabs until near 10 of us gently rolled along a very different seafront to the one we are used to.

imag0146.jpg

imag0147.jpg

The surfaces are for the most part WONDERFUL!

imag0148.jpg

imag0149.jpg

Even the “bad” ones were comparable to Eastbourne’s “medium” grade surfaces.

imag0150.jpg

imag0151.jpg

There is also a concrete block section, which although no good for freestyle is quite adequate for fitness and recreational skating.

imag0152.jpg

imag0153.jpg

We all pressured John to run a treasure hunt along it as it would be a unique event for the Eastbourne Skaters Sk8 M8’s to come over and do.

imag0154.jpg

imag0155.jpg

Looking forward to another trip here soon!

ESK Plants - kids fun day event

Well there were pony rides, seed planting, face painting, bands and - oh yes! Sk8school!

imag0128.jpg

imag0129.jpg

imag0130.jpg

We planned to just teach, demo and run a few taster lessons for an hour or two, but it was so well attended that we ended up not being able to leave till 4:30!

imag0131.jpg

imag0132.jpg

imag0133.jpg

Many thanks to Fred and ESK plants for inviting us along. Can’t wait for the next one!

imag0125.jpg

imag0126.jpg

imag0127.jpg

Hopefully they will re-run this event sometime in September :)

Sk8 n Chips Eastbourne Sk8 M8’s night skate.

Well a superb turn out for the Sk8 n Chips, with the majority of attendees being on the TXT event service!

imag0120.jpg

Looking forward to the breakfast skate on August 2nd already - because Radio 5 Live (the weekend breakfast show) will be attending - and skating with us!

imag0122.jpg

I hope lots of you support this - and get interviewed for the radio. Turn up a little earlier on the Saturday 2nd August if you’d like to impress the presenters!

imag0123.jpg

Many thanks to Sue for all the DVD’s she handed out at the event! I think it’s time we interviewed her for the newsletter or WhealsON blog!

Eastbourne Extreme 2008 Sunday Sk8school Review

Well after the redoubt roller-disco on Saturday night, we had a few hours sleep to recover and start Sunday with the Breakfast skate.

imag0112.jpg

imag0113.jpg

Starting at 10am seemed quite a good idea, but arriving at the Holywell later than 11 is not to be recommended in good weather - the queues are a little long.

imag0114.jpg

imag0115.jpg

Still after Saturday I did need the lie in!

imag0116.jpg

imag0117.jpg

The teaching through Sunday was more popular on Sunday, though from what I saw overall skater numbers were down.

imag0118.jpg

All in all though, well worth attended :)
