Last Breakfast Skate for Eastbourne Sk8school Sk8 M8s - Review

An excellent attendance for what was probably the last breakfast skate Eastbournes skaters will see for 2008. We’ll start them again in 2009. If the weather is exceptional and demand warrants, we might roll out one more time, but I have my doubts - and besides there are so many other activities we already have in the pipeline for this Winter!

Even Max made it to the Breakfast skate!

As usual we gathered up at the turning circle for 9am(ish) and as it was probably the last one, people made a special effort - in fact we saw many people that we had not seen for ages!

The gathering process went on for quite a while…

imag0707.jpg

And from the poses - some wished it was warmer! (Which is one of the reasons we stop around October).

Of course “Quad God” was leading the “Skate Icons” - But he has not sussed his camera which is why the above shot is all blue!

imag0721.jpg

Once we finally managed to gather up, we made quite a site along the prom.

Some of us were quite eager for breakfast!

imag0730.jpg

imag0732.jpg

Roley managed to become distinctly “un Rolly” when one of his wheels gave up the ghost half way there and he needed a pit stop to fix it.

imag0731.jpg

And if you can believe it that worn out toe wheel is his “better replacement” !

imag0740.jpg

imag0744.jpg

imag0745.jpg

Anyway we all made it and breakfast was up to its usual standard :)

imag0749.jpg

We formed up for a little “good bye 2008″ photo or two, before heading off for a little slalom and general messing about.

imag0752.jpg

imag0756.jpg

imag0758.jpg

imag0759.jpg

The messing about seems to be a bigger feature on the way back - in fact we stopped for banter and showing off twice more…

Before finally going for the last cup of tea at the cafe.

Sk8 M8s Bexhill Skaters Treasure Hunt Review

Well - that went perfectly! Especial thanks to Leslie, John and Teresa for organising such a brilliant treasure hunt and the good weather!

imag0671.jpg

Congratulations to all the teams taking part - especially of course this years winners - Harry, Jackson and Richard - AKA “6 Blades of Glory”. They went away with the trophy and get to defend their champion title in April/May 2009 when the next Treasure hunt runs!

imag0676.jpg

Look through the pictures to see how the day progressed.

imag0673.jpg

Well done to Tom and Jess, who made a team of 4 with their dogs! (And they thought they we just going to skate along the seafront for a 20 minute walk and ended up doing a treasure hunt for a couple of hours!).

imag0675.jpg

Still everyone enjoyed it and thats what counts!

p9200069.JPG

Nancy and the lollipop rollers also did well - making serious competition for 2nd place, but pipping them by half a point - Lee and Louise of the “We love Tim’s Silver Helmet Crew” came in for a second place steal. Which of course made for some tension whilst the scores were totted up!

imag0682.jpg

However the fastest team - with the most treasure accumulated and the most right answers and the first ones back…

imag0685.jpg

imag0686.jpg

imag0687.jpg

imag0688.jpg

The 6 Blades of Glory - take the Trophy and well deserved too!

Meanwhile everyone else settled for Lollipops!

Eastbournes skate lessons back on track with Sk8school once again!

Finally the weather allows an outdoor skate lesson and kids club at Eastbourne’s skate central - the turning circle.

Eastbournes Quality Skate Lessons at the Turning Circle

As you can see it was well attended and we expect to build on these numbers through the winter with the advent of all the half day intensive winter courses.

From October 5th we’ll be moving indoors and will be using Shinewater Sports Centre. Come and see us from 10am for the Quiet skate and lessons or 11am for the Open skate and Kids Club!

Another Kids Skate Party from Eastbourne Sk8school

This time we traveled up to Bolney to run a kids party for Nick and Suzi’s daughter, Georgina.

Nick’s first ever skate lesson!

There was even time to put dad (Nick) through his paces, so he’d have a better appreciation of what Georgina was in for!

Kids getting suited and booted for the Skate Party

As you can see it was a triumph of enthuiasm and youthful energy - as almost all of the children had never skated before!

imag0630.jpg

However by the end of the hour they were all managing chase games and limbo dancing!

If you’d like to book a private skate party for your kids or want to experience Kids club please come aling to any of our weekend sessions. They are 11am every Sunday. In the summer they are at the Turning Circle and in the Winter we usually use Shinewater Sports Centre.

Sun goes down on the last Sk8 n Chips of 2008…

Well the summer is over and the indoor season is just about to skate for Sk8school skating lessons in Eastbourne and the Sk8 M8s.

Moon over Eastbourne at the last Sk8 n Chips

Not to worry there will still be some opportunities for outdoor skating as the year runs its course, but most of the Sk8 M8s activities will be indoor till April 2009 now.

Eastbourne Skaters London visit - Sk8 M8 Update

Many of the Sk8 M8’s have heard about the fun we had at the last London trip. Sue as usual has devoted a huge amount of her time to putting the whole event on DVD - and when I looked at the raw footage - look what we found…

Here’s you’re chance to see what happened leading up to and after this…

THE FALL OF THE QUAD GOD!

Check the photo carefully and you’ll see that ours is not the only picture of the occasion! - The chap in the bus stop has his camera phone trained on the action too!

Check out the video here! and see what it takes to earn the title Quad God!

Sk8school offers Eastbourne Skaters Accelerated Learning Program - Skate Lessons

Eastbourne’s Skaters are about to have another chance to improve their skating in a series of half day intensive skate lessons.

These courses will be indoors, monthly and start in October (19th) with Mastering 10 ways to stop.

This is an Eastbourne Skate Lesson suitable for anyone wanting to learn how to stop on Rollerblades. It covers stopping in at least 10 different ways using quad (roller skates) toe stops and inline skate heel brakes, right up to the double edged hockey stop - in one half day intensive course.

No matter what your level of stopping, this will improve your technique, add to your skills and give you a method for stopping on skates, whatever the occasion (or necessity!).

Check out our Eastbourne Skaters Accelerated Skate Lesson Program here.

Eastbourne Skating - Fewer Skate Lessons in September

Alas the weather has really been against skating since Airbourne, in fact today was our first Eastbourne Skate Lesson - due to the weather for nearly a month!

Luckily there looks to be a break in the weather coming soon which will be good for the Sk8 M8’s Skate Treasure hunt on 20th September.

Once we hit October of course it won’t matter what the weather does because we’ll be doing Eastbourne Skating Indoors from 10am EVERY Sunday at Shinewater. Of course - this is a booking only event (10am) and turn up as you like at 11am. We’ll do a post about this shortly - though all the newsletter people know already - Time to get the Sk8school Eastbourne Skating newsletter then!
