National Skate Patrol Training - NSP
09/03/2008 by tim.
I’ve been Eastbourne’s NSP (National Skate Patrol) Trainer for 5 years now and have trained NSP as far afield as Goodwood, London and Brighton. The Uckfield Roller Disco have now approached me about training, to make their Roller Disco safer. So some time in late March I expect to be re-visiting the Uckfield Leisure centre and setting up a half day training session, to bring all their skate guards up to standard.
The difference between NSP training and “proper” skate instruction/ skate lessons
It’s not particularly hard to pick up the NSP skills as there is only a very limited set of demonstrations the NSP level, skate guard is qualified to show. The NSP don’t really teach or instruct, they just get to show people the basic “stand up, get going and stop” moves. For more detailed explanations, or corrective measures (when people get it wrong) you need a Skate Instructor. Simply put the difference between Volunteer NSP and professional Skate Instructors is that the NSP can only show and demonstrate 3 basic techniques, a full instructor, can demonstrate, correct, adjust, tune and teach a multitude of skate techniques.
If anyone needs NSP training, so you are qualified to teach to NSP level, I’m more than happy to help!

Skate Hire in Eastbourne gets re-wheeled!
08/03/2008 by tim.
Eastbourne Inline Skate School has had skate hire in Eastbourne in one form or another since 1999 and some of the skates are such quality they even date back to then! However with all good things, after hundreds of uses it’s time for a little TLC. So Sk8school has gone out and revamped it’s stock of hire skates, with new wheels and bearings and whole news skates where required.
This ensures that Skate Lessons in Eastbourne using hire skates, people wanting to try skating before they buy and just people wanting an instant upgrade are in luck this summer!
Skate Hire is available all year round from most Sk8school organised group events or classes or direct from the head office.
Check the Contacts section if you need Skate hire in Eastbourne
